By Darrien , December 8, in General Discussion. Is there some minimal amount of dimensions or are greenhouse walls required now as the videos I watched it was not. The source video is here. Crop plots must be placed under a greenhouse ceiling to receive the bonus. The greenhouse ceiling must receive unobstructed sunlight. The only way to test unobstructed sunlight is to see if you can fill your water jar when standing there during rain. If so, you can use a greenhouse ceiling there. You can use greenhouse ceilings in place of foundations or floors and put crop plots on the ceilings. Crop plots on ceilings will only get the greenhouse boost if there is also a ceiling above them. So, if you use only ceilings, you could do 10 ceilings as floors, have stone walls 2 high is best so you can walk over the plots, 1 high will mean you need to crouch and then have 10 greenhouse ceilings above the original 10 ceilings. Greenhouse pieces that are not connected - This only happens if you have a break in the structures, like putting two 4x4 greenhouses next to eachother with none of the pieces of the 4x4's snapped to each other. You park a platform saddled dino on your greenhouse ceilings. The platform will obstruct sunlight. Your irrigation runs over a croplot.
You have to enclose the whole thing in greenhouse walls and ceilings.
Other Greenhouse structures are entirely cosmetic. When the Greenhouse Effect is granted to a Crop Plot, its crops grow significantly faster but continue to consume Fertilizer at the usual rate. Because of this, the Greenhouse Effect increases the crop yield per unit of fertilizer. A fully upgraded greenhouse needs to be larger 3x3 or more. Build 2 walls these do not have to be greenhouse , then build Greenhouse Ceilings over the entire area. Sloped or flat does not matter. With large structures, this could take adding walls to different sides to even it out.

Eventually, I asked a friend who came to my base on our PvE server and helped me out. This should take care of what you need to know about the greenhouse in ARK. Building a greenhouse is simple once you get used to it.
Greenhouse pieces don't have to be connected, you just need 20 pieces around. Last edited by necaradan ; 22 Sep, pm. Cannot complain. Ramslamtymam View Profile View Posts. View mobile website.
