The Puzzle Cube 3x4x4 , along with its sibling, the Puzzle Cube 3x3x4 , were among the first cuboid variations of the original Rubik's Cube to be invented. You can think of the 3x4x4 Rubik's Cube as a Rubik's Revenge Cube 4x4x4 that is missing a layer on one of the axes usually the Y-axis between the white and yellow faces, as presented in the 3D simulation on this page. The 3x4x4 cuboid puzzle was originally invented by Tony Fisher back in It was initially hand-made using the mechanism of a Rubik's Revenge Cube 4x4x4 , however, since this puzzle is mass-produced by a company named Ayi Liu, which made 4 different color variations of it black, white, blue and transparent. Several brands manufacture this puzzle today, but even though this puzzle is so closely related to the Rubik's Revenge Cube, it is not manufactured by the Rubik's brand. Like the Tower Cube 2x2x3 and other cuboid puzzles, the top and bottom faces of this puzzle cannot be mixed with the side faces. This is because the 3x4 layers of this puzzle can only make double turns degrees while the 4x4 layers can also make regular degree turns.

Invented in , the Master Pyraminx is the 4x4x4 version of the Pyraminx puzzle. Much like the Rubik's Revenge is the 4x4x4 version of the original Rubik's Cube. Each face of the Master Pyraminx consists of 16 triangles compared to 9 in the Pyraminx making it a harder puzzle to solve. While the original Pyraminx has only about 75 million possible combinations, the Master Pyraminx has about quadrilion of them - a number that is much closer to the Rubik's Cube's 43 quintillion possible combinations. The solution to this puzzle relies heavily on the original Pyraminx solution and has some parity cases. Since this puzzle is not an official WCA puzzle, there is no official record for fastest solve. However the unofficial record belongs to Fedor Abaev from Russia and is Master Pyraminx 4x4x4. Drag to play! The Rubik's Revenge aka the Master Cube has a 4x4x4 cube layout, making it harder to solve than the original Rubik's Cube. Aside from the 8 familiar corner pieces, this puzzle features twice as many edge pieces and 4 center pieces on each of its faces compared to only 1 on the Rubik's Cube. The most common way to solve the Rubik's Revenge is called the "Reduction Method". As implied by its name, this method focuses on solving the 2x2 center pieces and 2x1 edge pieces first. Then treating them as single pieces, and thus "reducing" the problem by making the puzzle equivalent to a regular 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube, which can then be solved using the normal 3x3x3 solving methods along with two parity cases that require separate algorithms. An interesting concept to keep in mind while solving this puzzle is that even-order puzzles don't have any fixed facets.
