Hello from me the face and hands behind Hands of Tym Leather goods brand. I am the founder, designer, maker and general dogs body of Hands of Tym. I have always been a maker at heart, whilst at school I remember dreaming of a career creating bespoke ballgowns, I loved the idea of creating something personal and precious. I landed a space at the London College hands of tym Fashion studying Fashion Accessories, hands of tym, and it was here my life changed forever.

Other than some simple book sleeves, I had no experience of leather work and hadn't been near a sewing machine my Mum's old hand cranked Singer in nearly 50 years. That didn't matter as Georgie is a great tutor, who guided us through the complete process from start to completion of a really high quality finished backpack. I made this as a gift for my wife who, once she got over how good it was, absolutely loves it!!! Thank you Georgie - will definitely be back for another course in the near future!!! Using her expertise in pattern making, Georgie creates sketches and 3D models to visualise the different parts needed to create an artisan Hands of Tym product. This involves deconstructing the idea into all of its separate parts, before weaving them back together, to create a paper pattern from which to start making. Founding Leathersmith is designer Georgie Tym, a Cordwainers graduate on a private endeavour to keep British craft and industry alive. I learnt so much in the 2 days and I feel that there is so much more to learn from Georgie. Each kit is hand cut and prepared at our workshop in Oxfordshire. When designing a new collection, I am led by my endeavor to provide beautiful function to peoples lives, I look to problems which need solving, creating useful and timeless products. I was hooked the moment I first stitched a piece of leather and I have never looked back.
