It has two drawers with rails for the hanging files, plus a top drawer that's only about four or five inches deep for pens, rulers, etc. It's designed to hold a ton of weight, and if it's empty I can move it myself easily. I keep patterned paper in mine, as well as cardstock. I hate having to buy "special" storage solutions for my supplies!
