I don't like leaderboards, if anyone remembers CreeperWorld 3 was infested with impossibly short times from cheaters on the hi-score board for each level. They have also said they are interested in having coop, but as it would take months of work just to determine if it is possible it will be very far down the line if at all. Multiplayer would be great but the amount of work it would take, isn't worth it IMO; at the moment they could prioritise on adding more content and quality of life features. I'd rather they waited until the end of their early access period before attempting to implement multiplayer. Juni um I can EASILY see tge fun in breaking a ship with a friend, and all the workplace "accidents" that could happen, sorry you don't have much of an imagination.
