In our Literacy lessons this week, Ospreys have been looking at poems which celebrate festivals from around the world. We talked about the different seasonal festivals we all celebrate at home, and read some festival poems together. We focused on acrostic poems, in which the first letter of each line spells the topic of the poem. We worked together to create a word bank of verbs, adjectives and adverbs about harvest, and then wrote our own HARVEST acrostic poems. Next will be looking at the changes in the world outside the classroom for inspiration for writing acrostic poems about AUTUMN.
