The famed Hi-Ho chain of restaurants will be making a return to business locally starting in the first week of June at two of its most prominent former locations. Restaurant owner Peter Dedvukaj has purchased the former Champions restaurant in the block of Walker Road with an iconic Hi-Ho sign already in place. He also will convert the former Ivy Rose restaurant in the block of Howard Avenue — another previous location. A couple of years ago, the businessman initially took over as operator of the Ivy Rose restaurant and converted it into the Michigan Diner. Along with the Grumpy Burger, much of the same menu of the former local chain will be back in place, including options that featured items named after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. A prominent feature of drive-in service through your car window which made Hi-Ho restaurants such a local landmark will only occur on special occasions during the summer months — perhaps in tandem with classic car nights, Dedvukaj said. Its concept of drive-up service where patrons would be served in their car was completely new and took off in popularity over the years.

Remember back in the day when Walt Disney was just starting out? Remember when it was fairly easy to get the rights to use Disney Characters? Well, have I got a case-in-point for you!
