For the horizontal position draw it between the horizontal halfway point and the chin. You can place the nose slightly higher or lower based on style and the type of character you want to create but generally try and keep it close to the area described above. This will be discussed in a little more detail later on in the tutorial. The vertical placement of the nose will be the middle of the face. You can roughly estimate where this will be by projecting a line down from the curve of the forehead to the bottom of the chin.

The other, sharper noses appear more masculine. Same as the previous two example for the front view of the realistic nose first divide the head in to halves both horizontally and vertically.

This all starts with understanding how the nose is shaped, and what parts of the nose are to become those little lines and dots that make up an anime nose. Then we can draw in an anatomically accurate nose in this area between the eyes. Using this nose as a guide, we can study what areas of the real nose that anime noses are based on! We still have the whole ridge and bridge of the nose, the tip, and the nostrils. Finally, we have just the tip of the nose. For more cartoony anime styles, the nose needs to be much smaller, but crucially the actual anatomy and parts of the nose remain the same.

The rounded third nose may belong to a female character. You can give a hint of the nose with just two curved lines as shown in the example above. You can experiment by adding or remove details or by drawing them with various degrees of realism as shown at the start of the tutorial and see if you get a style that you like.
