Having recently acquired a stand-alone iatse 873 building, IATSE approached Taylor Smyth Architects for a creative design and retrofit that would allow them to accommodate their staff and provide training space for new and existing union members, iatse 873, as well as to create a facility that speaks to who they are and to their pride in what they do. Resembling planks of various wood types, the new screen is cut away to create a dramatic glazed opening into the building, an abstract reference to iatse 873 stage proscenium. It also indirectly references the spirit of what IATSE does — the creation of illusion with a resourceful use of materials.

To apply for membership you must be of legal age and be a citizen of Canada or have landed immigrant status or have a legal permit to work in Canada. An applicant seeking membership in the Local must also have a minimum of days worked within the craft to which they are applying, along with the mandatory department requirements.
