The International Federation of Sport Climbing IFSC is the international governing body for the sport of competition climbingifsc climbing, which consists of the disciplines lead climbingboulderingand speed climbing. At each event, the athletes compete in three disciplines: lead , bouldering , and speed. The rules and scoring that apply to World Cup competitors vary according to the discipline. Find out below. Competition takes place in a structure of three rounds. For a top or zone to count, the climber must touch the hold with both hands in a controlled manner. Grazing or tapping the hold without controlling it does not count. Qualifying rounds consist of five boulder problems, and competitors must attempt to climb each problem within a given time limit usually minutes per boulder. In that time, the objective is to climb to the top in as few attempts as possible. Semifinal and final rounds feature four boulder problems, and competitors must attempt to climb each one within a span of 5 minutes.
