Iona cruise ship reviews
Iona is the biggest cruise ship ever built for the UK market, packed with entertainment venues and more than 30 places to eat and drink.
Very comfortable cabin and excellent service from our cabin steward. Food was very good with plenty of choice and friendly and efficient service from the waiting staff. Plenty of activities and entertainment to meet most tastes. Excursions were well planned with knowledgeable and helpful guides. Enjoyable break and for the time of year the weather was good with rain in just one port, Vigo. The ship is very big but the food was good and the staff excellent. Good time to go away as far enough away from Christmas and the weather was far better than the rain, snow and ice at home.

The rest of the fleet are as follows, Arvia the newest , Britannia, Azura, Ventura, Arcadia adults only and Aurora adults only. With all restrictions now lifted and the ship sailing at near capacity including nearly children how would this cruise compare to the one we had taken 18 months ago. There had been loads of negative comments all over social media but as with all our cruises we went with a completely open mind. Things that need to be pre booked either before your cruise or on the app once on board are the theatre, the club, the Limelight Club and all speciality dining including the main dining rooms. Headliners Theatre — booking on the app required. On our previous cruise we felt the show team in the Headliners Theatre were really quite poor but how things have changed. From one of the weakest show teams to one of the strongest, there were no weak links at all with both singers and dancers performing to a very high standard. We really were blown away by how good they were, and thoroughly enjoyed Centre Stage in particular. The other act we saw in the theatre was Ventriloquist and comedian Gareth Oliver. The Club — booking on the app required. This place is a must visit, the Gary Barlow inspired night club is small but perfectly formed, with seating for around 80 people it is atmospheric and chic and it really makes you feel that you are part of something very special. The SkyDome is a family friendly indoor pool by day and at night the pool is covered creating a massive performance area. On this cruise the shows we saw was Triboo a twist on West Side Story where two ancient tribes battle for supremacy with fighting skills and thrilling high wire stunts it is an absolute visual treat from start to finish and we would highly recommend it. The Club House — no booking required but sometimes we had to queue for a seat.
They are also open for breakfast serving pancakesomelettes or a traditional full English.
Iona is a very new, very large cruise ship and, from the moment of stepping on board in Southampton, everything about the ship — from the incredible size to the quality of the decor, to the service from the staff, right down to the smallest details have not stopped impressing me for the entire week. And even after that whole week, we were still finding it hard to get our bearings and know where everything is and how to find it all. Something else that amazed me is the sheer variety of experiences there are on the ship to keep people entertained during days and nights at sea. And despite so many people all living together on board one boat, everything seems to run like clockwork. Everywhere you go on board is so clean and tidy — there are thousands of staff constantly cleaning every area of the ship. Everything from a lecture on the history of oil exploration in Norway to live bands, comedians, sports, games, full-scale musical theatre productions to intimate classical music performances — there is literally something for everyone going on constantly. But if you just want to sit around and relax, you can do so on loungers on sun decks, around swimming pools, or in cafes, bars or multiple hot tubs.

Like everyone else aboard we were looking forward to getting back to sea as soon as we could after Covid. Many passengers had done one or more cruises already - it is a great way to try out different ships after all. The ship herself is beautifully built, bright, spacious and airy. The many hard surfaces and constant musak drove up the sound levels but not seriously. Our 'standard' balcony cabin was well appointed and very well sound proofed. The lack of drawers actually helped here but there was enough storage space for the cruise - and any size case could be stored under the bed. We found a gift of engraved wine glasses waiting for us; very nice but something else to pack later! The only cabin feature that we didn't like was a 'night light' in the shower which filled the cabin with light if the loo door was left open at night. It couldn't be switched off sadly.

We ate here a lot and could not fault the food. Book your hotels with Booking. On this cruise the shows we saw was Triboo a twist on West Side Story where two ancient tribes battle for supremacy with fighting skills and thrilling high wire stunts it is an absolute visual treat from start to finish and we would highly recommend it. Heathrow Airport is the London airport that we use most frequently, it is found just off the M4 and for us the most accessible. This function is handy if you're travelling with a young child and you want to continue your evening after you've put them to bed. This was our second time on Iona and we are looking forward to our next cruise with P and O. This cruise has run every week over the summer period of and it looks like potentially the majority of the ones in the lead-up to our cruise in August had missed at least one port — some had missed multiple ports, which is a nightmare considering there are only four in total. Waiting staff in the inclusive restaurants were very helpful with my dietary requirements vegan and nut allergy and offered me pre-ordering to ensure I got meals right for me. Sadly that has been replaced by individual quizzes no teams allowed or the split the pub down the middle type quiz which was basically a shout fest, we know it sounds petty but anyone who loves quizzing will feel our pain. All the food in the main dining rooms is included in the price you pay for the cruise. Use of the gym, but not most classes.
This was our first cruise on one of the larger cruise ships and we were both a little apprehensive despite the fact that I had been on the ship lots of times as part of the Intercruises disability team. This did give me the advantage of knowing my way around and what the cabins were like etc. First things first, it is a big ship but quite easy to navigate with maps on each floor to show you where you are and where everything Is.
And even after that whole week, we were still finding it hard to get our bearings and know where everything is and how to find it all. This 4 screen cinema is included in your cruise fare and show films ranging from the latest blockbusters to old classics of the silver screen there is even ice cream and popcorn available too at an extra cost. The Quays — included in your cruise fare, no booking required. With so many bars and restaurants, food on Iona offers plenty of variety and you really could eat and drink somewhere different every day. Everywhere you go on board is so clean and tidy — there are thousands of staff constantly cleaning every area of the ship. Capacity — 5, guests or guests if all shared occupancy is taken, crew. Iona departs from. Lots of friends we cruised with did purchase the Wifi on this cruise and did confirm that it is still very hit and miss. The only disappointment with food was with both the other inclusive restaurant types with the burgers, pizzas, hotdog stands and the all day buffets, there were no vegan options in the fast food ones, and the horizon buffet has minimum options even for vegetarian! The concept of lots of smaller restaurants instead of a few huge ones means the ship doesn't feel crowded. Activities 4. Lovely ship, lovely crew with good food. All treatments in the spa have increased too, and you can find out all treatment prices by clicking here.
Here indeed buffoonery, what that
