She has been the main love interest and later wife of Barry Allenthe alter ego of the Silver Age version of the superhero The Flashand the aunt and grandmother, respectively, of the Modern Age variations of the characters Wally West and Bart Allen, iris west.

Candice Patton portrayed Iris West-Allen. In the series, Iris is initially a barista studying journalism, portrayed as a smart investigator, who falls in love with a speedster superhero , nicknamed by her The Streak, later The Flash. When she was younger, her father told her that her mother, Francine, died in an accident, but it was turned out she had left her, due to having a drug addiction. She later found out that her childhood best friend, Barry Allen, was The Flash , and went on to work with him and his team in S. Labs , eventually falling in love with him. In the first three seasons, she has the role of only the love interest for the protagonist, but in later seasons she upgraded her role. The character has also appeared in a digital comic book series and tie-ins. Iris West was first introduced in the DC Comics , as a supporting character and the main love interest and later wife of Barry Allen , the alter ego of the Silver Age version of the superhero The Flash , [2] first appearing in Showcase 4 on October 4, She had also expressed interest in appearing in Gotham , due to her favorite superhero being Batman. She has described her role as strong, fearless, passionate and emotional, with Iris having strength in vulnerability.

Iris West is the sister of Daniel West. Her mother died giving birth to her younger brother Daniel, which their father William blamed him for. While Daniel eventually returned to try and mend his relationship with Iris, Daniel had been involved with a stickup crew and was eventually sent to prison after being stopped by The Flash.

She's hiding this fact from her father, whom she knows wouldn't approve. Iris continues following reports about the "red streak". She's also still hiding her relationship with Eddie from her father, which Eddie isn't happy about. When her father seems to be giving her the cold shoulder, Iris confronts him about it and he tells him that while out on the job, he can't be worrying about the fact that his partner is also his daughter's boyfriend. Iris comes to understand what he means and apologizes. She refers to both Barry and Felicity Smoak as adorable nerds, and tries to set them up because she sees them as being perfect for one another, still not realizing how Barry feels about her. She also starts a blog focused on the "Red Streak". She tells her dad about the blog she has about the Streak, and is upset when Barry tries to talk her out of continuing it. When the Streak contacts her, Iris asks questions that he doesn't answer. She says that it's important for people to know that someone like him is out there looking out for them.

In the Flashpoint timeline , Iris and Joe seemed to have some tension since Iris didn't know about Francine being alive. She also knew that Wally was the Flash and they formed a brother-sister crime-fighting duo. When Iris and Barry's future daughter, Nora, arrived in the present, Iris found out that her future daughter held a grudge against her for implanting a power-dampening chip inside Nora.
