Jamma arcade

This is my first repair log on an arcade board, i hope that my text will not be too long and useful to anyone having problems with their own PCB of the same game. After pluging the board jamma arcade my jamma system, i noticed that the board has at least 4 problems to fix. The first is that i get japanese characters on screen, jamma arcade.

This Arcade Game Board has of the best Classic Games ever with adjustable difficulty and lives settings! Can only be used on horizontal monitors. JAMMA arcade games are the easiest way to build your own retro arcade. JAMMA is a wiring standard which was created in the mid 80's, this allowed arcade owners to easy repurpose old unprofitable machines by putting new art work on cabinet and swapping out the JAMMA board. Previously the arcade board and power supply would have to been rewired to work with the newer JAMMA cartridge. The standard made it quicker and cheaper for the owners to get new games in on older cabinets. It also has quick disconnects to plug in to the joysticks, buttons, coin mechs, sound and so on. It might look confusing with all the wires but once you split them into logical bundles it's as simple and pushing on the connectors. Making sure you line the 12v GND to the connect pins so the board powers correctly. Don't worry we will go over this in more detail later on. Reusing old cabinets made a lot of sense, and it was realized that the cabinets were a different market from the games themselves. The JAMMA standard allowed plug-and-play cabinets to be created reducing the cost to arcade operators where an unprofitable game could be replaced with another game by a simple swap of the game's PCB. This resulted in most arcade games in Japan outside racing and gun shooting games that required deluxe cabinets to be sold as conversion kits consisting of nothing more than a PCB, play instructions and an operator's manual.

Orders for custom items and prints may take additional time to process. JAMMA is an industry standard connector used on arcade boards. Standards make things easier to work on and understand! By having a standard connector on arcade boards, this simplifies conversion of a cabinet from one game to another. Converting a cabinet became as simple as pulling and replacing the board and then changing the decals. The majority of games do not use the entire JAMMA connector, rather opting for a smaller subset of the pins that satisfy that games controller needs. However, some games such as Mortal Kombat have extra buttons and therefore must have extra connectors for these additional controls! Doing so is likely to cause damage to the PCB components. This means exactly what it sounds like. Circuit boards generally have parts on the top, and the solder pins on the bottom.
