While historical and spiritual characters have been present in Turkish cinema history since the s, recent developments in filming technologies, increased interest in television, and the rise in popularity of TV series have contributed these characters to also appear on television screens. They have gained an unprecedented audience and follower potential. Television series that depict the life stories of religious figures have achieved great success with modern possibilities, and visualizing the spiritual teachings of these personalities and conveying them to people through series has become exceptionally important. As a result, multiple religious characters have been featured in television series, and these characters, previously only read about, have now come to life on screen. The main objective of the study is to research how these figures are depicted on screen.

Please find below the details of the events held throughout the month of March. Feminist and Queer Solidarity in Ecology, Art, and Activism We started our March program on March 5th with a one-day online event consisting of panels that took place under three different headings. In the first session, ecology activists throughout Turkey engaged in a discussion on solidarity from a gender perspective bringing in local and transnational examples. In the second session, artists from the field of visual arts conversed about their own work and contemporary solidarity forms and experiences in art. Throughout the day, the audience also contributed to the discussions by sharing their thoughts on feminist solidarity through online interactive tools. The initiative will encourage junior gender studies scholars worldwide to publish in high-quality academic journals. The workshop provided an interactive space for idea sharing and discussion on storytelling through web documentaries. The participants of the workshop also developed suggestions for future projects.
