There are a lot of great car and hot rod builders out there. We were very fortunate to grab an hour of his time to talk about all things Dave Kindig, Kindig-It Designs and custom cars. Oh man, born and raised just loving them. Not a lot of opportunity to work on them. No dad growing up at the house so my love of cars, love for cars, came from Legos, Hot Wheels, Matchbox cars and later on plastic model cars, which no car was safe on my windowsill for more than maybe 2 or 3 weeks. The Ridler Award is widely regarded the most prestigious award for elite show cars on the planet. To even qualify as a contender, the builds must be kept tightly under wraps before the covers come off at the Detroit Autorama. From there, the eight finalists are chosen. The theme of the built was inspired by the Motorama concept car known as the Corvair pictured below. And the V12? As the name suggests, the brothers built a V12 initially by cutting and shutting two LS1 blocks. They later came up with their own custom V12 blocks, in either aluminium or cast iron. This redesign accommodates a wider range of drivers, addressing one of the original Corvette's limitations. With an automatic transmission, this revamped powerhouse significantly elevates the vehicle's performance. Carbon fiber panels painted in Cha-Ching Silver adorn the exterior, while the interior features Auburn Red leather, elevating the car's visual appeal. Notable interior upgrades include bucket seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a revamped dashboard with modern gauges. Kindig It Designs aimed to overcome the original Corvette's limitations in power, handling, and interior space while preserving its iconic design elements. Dave Kindig's vision reimagined the classic, shortening the nose and enhancing the interior while retaining the original wheelbase.
