This arc sees Orochimaru 's attempt to destroy Konohagakure.

Orochimaru also planned for Kimimaro to take part in the invasion, but the latter was stricken with illness before the invasion. Orochimaru's subordinate, Kabuto Yakushi , instead cast the Temple of Nirvana Technique on the stadium where the finals were being held, putting most present to sleep and signalling the invasion. The Konoha ninja that were present and able to fend off the genjutsu immediately engaged the Oto ninja that had earlier infiltrated the stadium. Gaara and his siblings fled the village with Sasuke and Shino Aburame in pursuit, while Orochimaru discards his guise as the Kazekage and has the Sound Four erect a barrier so no one can interfere with his fight against Hiruzen. On Konoha's outskirts, Suna and Oto ninja, with help of some of Orochimaru's snakes summons, punched holes in the village's defences, eliminated the border guards, and moved in to the village. All combat-ready ninja sought out the invaders to give the citizens time to escape to the safe area behind the Hokage Rock. Having taken the villagers by surprise the Suna and Oto were able to claim some early victories, in part benefited by the snakes rampaging throughout the village. As time went on and Konoha's more seasoned ninja came to the village's defence, the tide began to turn against the invaders. Jiraiya stepped in to stop Orochimaru's snakes and most of the Oto ninja at the stadium had been eliminated. Orochimaru , though having managed to bring about Hiruzen's death, had been badly injured by the loss of his arms.

Narrowing the Field: Sudden Death Elimination As the hunt for Sasuke Uchiha continues, Naruto is paired up with Kiba and Hinata konoha crush arc hopes of helping them improve Team 8's teamwork. Past ones were successful but I received fair feedback on story warping and not being what it could have been, I also researched and now I can use this knowledge and past made content with adaptions. This arc sees Orochimaru 's attempt to destroy Konohagakure. It spans through volumes , [1] or more specifically, covers chapters to of the manga and episodes 68 to 80 of the Naruto anime. With the invasion of Konoha 's start, Suna and Oto ninja pour into Konoha , using giant snakes to topple the village's protective wall. As this goes on, the Fourth Kazekage holds a kunai to the Third Hokage 's neck, holding him hostage and allowing them both to get to the roof of their sitting area without confrontation. As Anbu members try to come to the Third's rescue, the Kazekage's minions erect the Four Violet Flames Formation , preventing anyone from getting in or out. As the Kazekage begins to mock the Third for getting so old and even going so far as to call him "sensei", the Third realises that the Kazekage is actually Orochimaru in disguise, who sheds his disguise so that he can face his former master face to face. The Third Hokage, knowing that Orochimaru has come to kill him, removes his Hokage outfit, revealing his fighting gear underneath. Orochimaru comments that the Third came prepared for their battle, and the two stare each other down. When one of the tiles on the roof cracks, they begin their battle.
