In , she won a place in the band Hear'Say as a result of appearing on the reality television series Popstars. Hear'Say enjoyed brief success, achieving two UK number one singles and a UK number one album, but Marsh left the band in to pursue a solo career. She released an album titled Standing Tall in , which peaked at number nine in the UK and spawned two UK top ten singles. She grew up in Garswood, Merseyside. Marsh rose to fame when she and four other contestants won reality TV show Popstars and formed manufactured pop quintet Hear'Say. She is most recognised however for her role as Michelle Connor on the long-running ITV soap opera Coronation Street , which she played from to Marsh was one of the contenders to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest ; she was third place and as such did not take part in the ESC.
