Leica qp review

While simple enough to read through the launch material and check out the official product photos which we posted about here: Leica Q-P in Stealth Matte Black Released , I wanted to dive a bit deeper into the Q-P to really see what makes this camera special. Fortunately, I was able to get my hands on a Leica Q-P, no small feat given their relative rarity, and now I can see what it's all about. Let's get the obvious out of the way first.

Very intuitive way of managing the handling, this is the only brand other than Fujifilm where I simply have nothing but praise for the way their cameras handle. A thumb-rest that is, my dear friend. True competition to the Q came from the Sony RX1 which has since gone on to its newest generation 42 megapixels RX1r2 which honestly is a monster in performance with its exceptional fixed Zeiss 35mm F2 lens. Not only because it is sexy, but because the megapixel bloat on the Q2 is overkill. One look through the EVF and experiencing the dead silent and snappy auto focus I knew that this camera would soon have a place in my bag right next to my M I have always been on the search for a high quality fixed lens compact, with a 28 to 35 mm focal length and it has been a long search, from the now vintage Olympus Pen E-P5 with its 17mm F1. The Q2 has improved on the multi-function dial by integrating another user-assignable button usually ISO , that enables additional functionality usually keeping ISO within reach. Other than the excellent optics and the full frame 24 megapixels sensor, the handling of the lens elements makes up a huge part of why the Q is attractive, an aperture ring at the front, and a finger tab which one naturally depresses to move into Macro or Manual mode.
