The planned works will begin on Wednesday, January 3 after inspections carried out by National Highways earlier in identified defects on the M3 northbound carriageway between junctions four and three. For the safety of motorists and workers, and to minimise disruption, the repairs will occur under a mixture of lane closures and full overnight closures. The work will involve extensive deep excavations of the London-bound M3 between junctions four A and three and will require the carriageway to be fully closed overnight from Wednesday, January 3 to Thursday, January 4 from 9pm to 6am. Lanes three and four will remain open with a 50mph speed limit to enhance the safety of drivers passing deep excavations. This measure allows National Highways to continue daytime work, ensuring prompt completion of repairs. Additionally, full overnight closures will take place between junctions four A and three on the London-bound carriageway throughout the same period. Drivers should allow extra time during their journey and follow the official diversion route fully signed in place.

The latest planned full closure information for England's strategic road network. The M25 between junction 10 and 11 will be closed in both directions from Friday 15 March 9pm to Monday 18 March 6am. Drivers heading northbound on the M3 have been warned to expect delays due to emergency repairs to a bridge. Two lanes of three are closed to fix a joint on a bridge between junction 12 for Eastleigh and junction 11 for Winchester. National Highways said the stretch of motorway will be shut overnight on Wednesday and lane closures were due to remain in place on Thursday morning. National Highways said the overnight closure was expected to be in place between and GMT. Drivers are being urged to seek alternative routes and allow plenty of extra time for their journey.

Motorists travelling from Winchester to London next weekend will face severe disruptions. Drivers are being advised to plan ahead and leave extra time for their journeys as a full weekend closure is planned to begin next Friday, February 9, on the M3 London-bound carriageway between junctions 4a and 3. Following inspections earlier in the year, National Highways identified a series of maintenance issues on this section of the M3. While works are progressing well, weekend closures are necessary to allow contractors to complete the project. This includes installation of an upgraded barrier, resurfacing, renewal of road markings and removal of traffic management measures. While the closure is in place the following diversion route will be in place which has been agreed with Hampshire and Surrey County Councils:. Vehicles should then turn right onto Grove End link road, turning left onto the A, before turning left to rejoin the M3 London bound at junction 3. The London-bound slip road, approaching from Frimley, will also be closed at junction 4 over the same weekend. All vehicles from junction 4 should use the A and then turn right onto the A30 London Road.

U rgent repair work on the M3 means part of the motorway will shut completely for weeks, with a diversion in place.
