Makoto is a teenage girl with fair skin and a slim complexion, though she is slightly more muscular than most of her fellow Sailor Senshi. She has big green eyes, long reddish brown wavy hair that she usually keeps tied up by a ponytail holder with two green balls, and is almost always shown wearing pink rose earrings. She is also the tallest out of the Inner Sailor Senshi. Sailor Jupiter wears a sailor suit with two colors: green collar, short boots with white ribbon laces, skirt, choker, the gem of the tiara, the button of front bow, end of sleeves on gloves and pink bows. Makoto is her sailor form's alternative human identity as part of the Sailor Guardians, female supernatural fighters who protect the Solar System from evil. In the series, Makoto is the third Sailor Guardian to be discovered by Usagi Tsukino , and serves as the "coordinator" of the group, [1] as she possesses superhuman strength, as well as powers associated with electricity and plants. Aside from the main body of the Sailor Moon series, Makoto features in her own manga short story, The Melancholy of Mako-chan. A number of image songs mentioning her character have been released as well, including the contents of three different CD singles. Makoto's strong, independent personality is hinted at in her most striking physical feature—her unusual height 5'5" or 1. She is stated at her first appearance in the series to be very tall, and considerable notice is taken in the original Japanese versions, although this trait is downplayed in English translations as her relative height is not all that uncommon in most Europeans. She is strong and was rumored to have been kicked out of her previous school for fighting. It has a long skirt, which when coupled with her hair, was a common visual cue for a tough or delinquent girl at the time the series was created. She always wears pink rose earrings and a green hair tie that decorates her ponytail. One of the most consistent characters across the many versions of the series, Makoto is always depicted as simultaneously the most determined of the four Sailor Guardians. Her most closely held dream is to get married and own a cake and flower shop. Her domestic talents are explained as a deliberate effort to overcome her tomboyishness. She insists that she is not the least bit feminine, and seems surprised and touched when someone tells her she is. This dual nature comes from a need to be self-sufficient: her parents died in an aviation accident as a child and she has since then looked after herself. She is self-sufficient almost to a fault, and gets shocked when an airplane passes overhead.
Inreaders ranked them at eleventh and fifth respectively, out of thirty eight choices. With the help of Hotaru she gets her soul back and the others do too.
She is the fourth Sailor Senshi to be introduced in the anime. Makoto has wavy chestnut hair that is always seen styled into a ponytail and held up by a green hair tie. She is also always seen wearing pink rose earrings on her earlobes. Makoto is very tall for a Japanese schoolgirl and is the tallest girl in the Inner Sailor Senshi. Her school uniform is a white long-sleeved sailor uniform with white laced ribbon at the center and has a cross corset design on her uniform with two white designs with khaki linings in each side at the edge of her uniform, a long khaki skirt with a matching long lace ribbon at the back and black heels. Her sailor uniform is khaki with two white linings attached. Her summon uniform is a contrast to other female students from her previous school as seen in the fourth season where she is friends with Tomoko during flashbacks.
A tough tomboy with a love for gardening and cooking, Makoto embodies both femininity and masculinity. After rumors spread that she was kicked out of her last school for fighting, people avoided Makoto at her new school. But her classmate Usagi aka Serena knows an opportunity for free food when she sees one, and the two become fast friends. Harnessing the power and lightning and plants, Sailor Jupiter is the muscle of the Sailor Scouts. Each chapter featured a different Sailor Scout back and took place at some point during their final year in middle school. The first chapter focused on Makoto, the second showed Ami and later got turned into an episode , and the final chapter was shared by Minako and Rei. Each story showed the girls fighting a Genius loci, a guardian spirit from Roman mythology. By transforming into Sailor Jupiter, Makoto takes down the Genius loci and saves the day. The chapter also tells readers why Makoto is afraid of airplanes, and the answer was too tragic for the English dub to even include in the original show…. As a result, she is extremely afraid of flying.
