When we got to the location, I instantly fell in love with the space. Every inch and corner of this shop just looks sleek, and clean. The aesthetic certainly gives an industrial vibe. I especially like the floating light panel above the bar, also the long wooden table at the back of the shop near the roastery, and the giant piece of rock that merged in the middle of that table—it is such a piece of art. And if you look closely, you can see that the rock reflects a Japanese aesthetic known as wabi-sabi. It is very spacious, and the space seems to fit more than 50 people comfortably.

There is something special about wandering into a warehouse in the industrial area and opening the doors to an incredible space that is all about the coffee. The Manta Ray team know their beans and invite customers to sample their coffee and develop their appreciation and love for this Mamma staple. There are lots of options on the menu - from your classic lattes, to your filtered or pour overs.

This leads you to a deep porch at the right of a single-storey industrial building with tall glass double doors at the back, flanked by matching windows, which run the full width of the porch. These deposit you in the front, right-hand corner of a large, industrial-like space. It goes a long way back, with the coffee bar at the front, the roastery behind it, the two separated by a wall of windows that runs the full width of Manta Ray. The first thing that struck me was this sense of space and light. Perhaps twice as long as it is wide, everything is spread out and uncluttered.
