Minn kota trolling motor wont turn left or right
This box will disappear once you are signed in as a member. I have a Minnekota trolling motor on the front of my boat with a foot pedal. It will rotate right, but it won't rotate left. Any idea what is causing this? Could it be one of the cables inside the unit? Most have two cables running from the pedal up to the head guessing one of those slipped out of it's holder? Other possibility is a cable snapped. It's easy to find out, just take the head cover off and see if both cables are attached -- if they are, gently pull on both and see if one gives -- you'll know immediately if it's not attached. Not worth sticking the money into fixing them. I'm guessing here, but I'd guess you have a power drive, or a non cable driven trolling motor, right? I agree with Bass N Spear here, sounds like a foot pedal. Do you know anyone who has a similar foot pedal? I'd swap them and see what that tells you.
All B. Only reason I thought of it was I just had the same issue -- thought it was a cable that came off, so when I pulled the head off, turns out the cable did, but a piece of the plastic housing was broken off This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread.
User Name Remember Me? Minnkota won't turn left. Minnkota Power Drive was working fine, no signs of acting up, then at once it wouldn't turn left with the foot control. Everything else was working. Got back to camp and tried another foot control and got the same results. The I-pilot will of course be the 1st choice for a new one, but if I can get this back one the road for a couple hundred, I will.

All of them at one point or another have had the problem with not turning to the right. Turning to the left is never a problem but just this weekend mine acted up and will not turn to the right. Curious if anyone else had had an issue like this and what your solution was. Thanks for any help! Inside the box that the shaft goes through,There is a small white motor with gears, its the motor to turn left and right Either the motor drive slipped and the gear is stuck or the gear is in it limit right and the cogs dont align. I repair many with the problem, and with the little motor froze up. Had the same problem towards the end of last season and totally forgot about it when I went out this season, fighting river currents with a trolling motor that wont turn right is something you don't want to do
