MOB is an international design incubator that develops furniture projects designed by artists and architects. Based in Lisboa and Santiago de Chile, MOB aims to invite young creators from different parts of the world to present proposals that confront their points of view around a piece of furniture. Through exercises based on their own local realities, these pieces are located in a global scene and then finally return to the intimate context of their daily use. We invite creatives with both emerging and established careers, always under the premise of looking for fresh and particular voices with their own style and challenging their contexts. In this way, we want to materialize personal research into products capable of transmitting the complexity of social and formal thinking.

Founded since , our responsibility as an integral design studio is the constant questioning of our evolution point. Our creative process starts always with an extensive evaluation on the interpretation we give to a space or object, the deep analysis as to how this can impact through emotions and experiences that will remain with whom decides to live and interact with our work. MOB focuses on the story the pieces transmit, their transformation through time and the level of intimate connections awaken by feelings such as nostalgia, contemplating how time will add value. At the studio, we nurture from the idea that our pieces are thought and acquired not as a whim of ephemeral stay but as a comfortable decision for long lasting enjoyment. The constant multidisciplinary collaboration with other studios sharing similar values has taken us to transcend in the Mexican design scope. Text description provided by the architects. It is a space inspired in the essence of ancient Mexican traditions, translated into a contemporary language. SAMA and mob planned interiors to be conformed by a playful selection of various materials, which altogether permeate and emphasize each of the different areas in the restaurant. As the scents from the dishes and mezcal arise, a mural art piece consisting of kaleidoscopic digital mosaics greets the customers. Finishes in wood and wicker weaving, geometric accents and basketry elements are some of the details that dress up the diner lounge. The bar area can be easily reached from the lobby, and is characterized by the use of cold appearance materials such as marble, granite and glass; wich in contrast with the wooden wall panels and suspended ceiling, bring back to life the elegance of old colonial times in Mexico. Aside this space, visitors can enjoy the dining area which is conformed by a series of tables and chairs designed exclusively for the project by mob studio: leather upholstered stools, chairs with wicker weaved backrests and geometric pattern decorated surfaces inspired by pre-Columbian cultures. As mob specializes in interior architecture and furniture design, all pieces of furniture were made by master craftsmen to achieve a comprehensive and coherent look within the space.

We aim to produce commercial pieces that establish connections capable of developing crossovers between multiple places, creators, users, and ideas, through a production model based on commissioning design by invitation, manufacturing and distributing certificated limited editions by MOB ensuring high production standards.
