The bahay kubokuboor payag in the Visayan languages is a type of stilt house indigenous to the Philippines. Its design heavily influenced the colonial-era bahay na bato architecture.
It often serves as an icon of Philippine culture or, more specifically, rural cultures. Its architectural principles gave way to many of Filipino traditional houses and buildings that rose after the pre-colonial era. So from the meaning that we all have known for a long time ago about bahay-kubo, or just simply from how we can describe it in our minds, and also somehow based from our knowledges and imaginative minds, I came up to the concept of designing, or creating my own bahay-kubo, but, with a twist. My concept is a structure having a physical features of modern bahay-kubo. I resulted and came up creating this kind of concept because I want to improve more our mentality for being a proud Filipino. So, as an architecture student, and hopefully a professional architect someday, I would like and want to build a stronger foundation for the love and pride in our country, the Philippines.

A Bahay Kubo is a traditional Filipino house that is made from natural materials like bamboo and palm leaves. While the design of the Bahay Kubo has stayed largely unchanged for centuries, some modern Filipinos have been adapting the style to fit their needs and preferences. In this blog post, we will take a look at this modern Bahay Kubo design, as well as the native furniture pieces that are often used in this type of home. Standing tall at 2 stories, this house features a sturdy concrete base and an upper floor with cool amakan woven bamboo walls. Glass is incorporated with the native amakan design, creating a lovely effect that looks stunning even from afar.
