On the southern shore of Lake Malawi is the evocatively named Monkey Bay, but visitors are just as likely to see signs of industry as they are monkeys. There are some sandy beaches and rocky headlands to explore but it is more town than resort. Lovely place with super friendly South African owners. Small campsite with basic but good enough ablutions. Free WiFi. Cosy guesthouse, restaurant and bar. They usually charge but I stayed for free because I ate and drank in their restaurant. Highly recommend staying here!
