Monologue soft sketch book

Allegedly, this is a soft sketch book, and technically speaking yes, this is a soft, not hard cover on this book, but monologue soft sketch book will not find a stiffer notebook for your dollar without falling down a rabbit hole of double entendres.

A few months ago, manufacturer Grandluxe sent me a few sketchbooks to review. I've since reviewed the Monologue Sketch Pad which is pretty decent. This is part of the Monologue series of sketchbook. The Basics series seem to only have black covers as compared to the colourful Sketch Pad series. The hardcover is covered with some soft leatherette, and apparently thin because mine has some areas chipped off from putting inside my bag. And it seems there are also notebooks 80gsm in the Basics series, so be careful not to buy the wrong type.

The folks at GrandLuxe sent me a whole heaping pile of their new Monologue journals. I received four A6 5. Even from the edges, you can see there are slight variations in each book to suit lots of personal preferences. The red A6-sized has pages that are undersized to accommodate a golf-sized pencil tucked in under the edge for the cover with an elastic to hold it securely. The bottom two books have elastic loops to hold a writing tool. The orange book in the middle is a flip-top reporter-style sketchbook. The books fall into two paper categories, the standard weight writing paper 80 gsm acid-free and the heavier sketchbook paper gsm Italian high quality acid free. The black Monologue Basics sketchbook and the orange reporter-style Monologue sketh pad both feature the plain heavyweight sketchbook paper.

It was when I flipped through the papers that I fell in love with it. From inside, then I went on to the cover, I love everything about it; the gsm Italian acid free drawing paper, the ribbon bookmarker, the black PU-flexi cover with round corners, and the elastic band closure. I knew I just had to have it. Paid SGD26 for it. I was in Singapore at that time.
