There is but one weapon in Cyberpunk that can turn V into a swirling tornado of death and destruction, and that's the monowire. With this piece of deadly cyberware, you can slice everyone and everything around you to ribbons. Although the monowire has received significant changes since its initial introduction, it remains one of the most potent melee weapons in Cyberpunk for both silent assassins and less-silent mercenaries. Updated February 7, , by Sean Murray: The monowire has changed a lot since Cyberpunk was first released. As of the 2. We've updated the information found below to be accurate as of the date listed.

With the new Relic perk that lets you quickhack enemies with charged monowire attacks. I've been using weapon glitch with it myself to basically stun them and leave them unable to fight back while I whip them to death! Curious what other ones I haven't thought about and what other players like using, I heard Cripple Movement is pretty good too. Showing 1 - 13 of 13 comments. Yes I used the weaponglitch too, was OP and even better than the movement hack. Rickymicky View Profile View Posts. I tried out Cyberware Malfunction with Electric Monowires at one point. I wasn't sure if that "EMP" effect occurred like it would when you'd quickhack queue Short Circuit after Cyberware Malfunction -- since Electric Monowires deal electric damage, so I figured the same effect would occur -- but it did feel pretty satisfying to use for the short time I used 'em before swapping back to Mantis Blades. Cyberpunk has added tons of new tweaks to existing weaponry in the Phantom Liberty expansion and 2. Players returning to Night City for the first time in a while may want to start a new character, as the perks have been completely reworked. The Monowire is an arm weapon cyberware that felt underutilized in the base game. Phantom Liberty changes this by adding new capabilities that make it perfect for players looking to be a powerful Netrunner, or making a build like Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. V can now apply quickhacks to the Monowire.
The Cyberpunk Monowire is an acquired taste. It's not the flashiest arm weapon in the game, or even the best in terms of raw damage, but it is the cherry on top of Cyberpunk's revamped netrunner skill tree in Update 2. While it's not really sensible to make a build around the Monowire without a beefy cyberdeck of quickhacks to back it up, the Phantom Liberty expansion buffs all Monowires in a major way. With the Jailbreak ability unlocked at the beginning of the expansion, all Monowires gain the ability to inflict quickhacks with melee strikes—a hands-on malware attack, essentially. Here's how to get started with the Monowire, how to get a better one, and the skills and cyberware that work the best with it. The Monowire has a similar moveset to both the Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms: light attack on left-click, a heavy attack by holding left-click, and a block on right-click. The big difference with the Monowire is its range and cleaving—V swings the Monowire in a whip-like arc several meters in front of them, allowing it to reach enemies at medium range, and even hit multiple enemies at once. Monowires reach their full potential with the Relic skill tree exclusive to Phantom Liberty. Jailbreak , the first Relic skill, adds a Control quickhack slot to all Monowires. Charged Monowire attacks automatically upload that quickhack to the target, and a subsequent upgrade will spread that hack to nearby enemies.

With the recent patch releases, Netrunners had a full overhaul which also includes their iconic weapon - Monowire. Previously the weapon was part of the Blades category, but now it solely relies on itself, getting no boosts from anything except a few intelligence perks. This does not mean that you will just go around slashing your wrists that is of course possible. The weapon plays more of a support role. To reach its full potential you will have to mix it with various Quickhacks and cyberdecks. All of this will give you an unparalleled edge and can be fueled with Monowire attacks using the Siphon perk. We will look at deeper synergies between quickhacks, perks, and monowire types. Some of them can apply fire, other shock, or poison. Late in the game, you can expect to blow up groups of enemies. However, the powerful combo will be utilizing Suicide quickhack after you deal multiple finisher moves.
