I'm not a gamer so, even though the cheap pads are not as good as other, more expensive pads, they are more cost effective for me and still meet my needs. I eliminated wear on the feet by using a Teflon tape similar to actual mouse tape, only thicker and wider, over the feet and replace the tape every few weeks as needed.

Besides wearing out and needing replacement fairly often, the tape is soft enough that dirt can get embedded in the tape, increasing friction I hate a dragging mouse!
