The Muv-Luv Trilogy follows Shirogane Takeru as he lives a peaceful life at highschool surrounded by a harem of classmates until he is one day transported to an alternate reality in which humanity has been fighting a decades long war against alien invaders. Muv-Luv contains the first two parts of the trilogy Extra and Unlimited. The final story arc Muv-Luv Alternative received its own release. Muv-Luv Unlimited The Day After shows a different outcome of the events of Muv-Luv Unlimited in which humanity makes a depserate last ditch effort against the alien invaders but has to pay a steep price for doing so. The sequel to this 4 part series, Muv-Luv Resonative, is currently in development. Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse takes place during the years leading up to the events of Muv-Luv Alternative but follows a different cast of test pilots developing new TSFs in a research base in Alaska. Over the years, several shorter stories depicting certain characters from the main trilogy as protagonists or introducing new characters and settings have been released, often as bonusses in magazines or other releases.
