The world of My Hero Academia is filled with a vast cast of professional heroes which results in a number of great and-not-so-great hero names.

Izuku Midoriya is the main protagonist of My Hero Academia. He was born without any powers in a world were 80 percent of humans have abilities known as Quirks, but that didn't stop him from trying to be a hero. He is later given a quirk by his idol and the number 1 hero, All Might after proving himself as a his successor. After enrolling in a prestigious super hero school, he embarks on a journey to become a powerful hero and symbol of peace. His quirk is called One For All. Katsuki is a student at UA attending in the hopes of becoming a professional hero. His Quirk is called Explosion.

There are a lot of My Hero Academia characters whose names are reflective of their Quirks, but the various users of One for All take this to the next level by having names that signal something they couldn't possibly have known. Katsuki Bakugo's name, for example, includes the Japanese character for "bomb," referencing his explosive Quirk, while Denki Kaminari's name contains the character for "electricity. When it comes to the previous holders of One for All, however, the names indicate something different, yet still related to their Quirk: a symbol signaling exactly which holder they were, numerically. The first user of One for All was All for One's brother, Yoichi Shigaraki, whose name contains "ichi," the Japanese character for the number one. The second and third users names aren't currently known, but the fourth user's name, Hikage Shinomori, contains the character for four, or "shi. The sixth user only has one known name, "En," which references his smokescreen Quirk, but doesn't contain a number. Nana Shimura, the seventh user, similarly has a name that's homophonous to a word for seven, "nana. Should the second and third users names be revealed, or En's full name, it's likely they will fit this pattern in some way as well. It's fairly convenient for Japanese fans, as their names immediately clue a reader in as to what position they held in the inheritance of One for All. Since the previous users of One for All are mostly important in their role of passing the power down throughout the generations, it makes sense that their character names might be based around that, rather than their Quirks as with most other characters. What's perhaps more impressive is that Deku and All Might fit the pattern as well, suggesting that series creator Kohei Horikoshi knew exactly how many previous users there were from the very beginning. Unfortunately, these Easter eggs and hints don't tend to be very useful to most international fans, due to their reliance on Japanese kanij, but they exist all the same. Still, knowing this fact might make it easier for My Hero Academia fans with a passing knowledge of basic Japanese to learn their names.
