First, a note, this post originally had many embedded links to different pieces of information but since I'm a new user on this form I'm only allowed to have 2 links per post. I've therefore had to pull them out and add spaces so that they are not detected as links. I've kept most of them like this since I believe they provide crucial context to this post. I've been working on implementing a Neocities backend for rclone for the past few days, it's pretty much complete now, I've just got to write tests and documentation. I wanted to get some feedback on what I've got so far and gauge opinion on this new feature! I'm in many different Neocities communities and so far I've already been getting a bunch of positive feedback of people using this new backend to do things like mounting their sites locally or downloading backups Neocities provides a backup feature but it's disabled for large sites, MB I believe. However, while the documentation for how to connect is hidden from free users, the actual endpoint has no checks to see if you're actually a supporter.
We are tired of living in an online world where people are isolated from each other on boring, generic social networks that don't let us truly express ourselves. It's time we took back our personalities from these sterilized, lifeless, monetized, data mined, monitored addiction machines and let our creativity flourish again. That's where Neocities comes in.
