By oleman March 4, in General Chat. It will bale almost anything. If you are premium hay with alfalfa there tend to be more leaves lost with it. The one I rented a Diesel is not even close enough to be able to run it in the hills. As mentioned, it will bale about anything. The only thing ours won't bale is really dry straw, several times we had to bale in the early morning when the dew was on. We have baled thousands and thousands of bales of baleage with ours plus a fair amount of dry hay. It has been very reliable. I would not be afraid of it at all. LOTS of em still going strong in my area.

Our first round baler was a Nothing loose about the bales at all if the air bags have the right pressure. They used to say you could bale railroad ties with those old ones. I agree with Rod, I have a little and works well with a 70 horse tractor. My has been good but does not make as tight and well rounded bale as others I have seen but I haven't had a bale fall apart yet. The reason being, is maybe the newer balers you mention could be either heavier or lighter witch would be good. Better and tighter bales, better ties, just an all around nicer job. I suggest you keep an eye out for the Vermeer or balers that are 4x5's and twine or net wrap.
