The mission of the parishes of our Region, a part of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle , is to proclaim Christ in the inner suburbs of the City of Newcastle. This website highlights who we are and some of the ways we go about fulfilling our mission. We are a vibrant ant and faith-filled community of communities who look forward to welcoming you among us. The Catholic Schools Office CSO and its schools serve the community of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and make up a large, valuable and vital part of the mission of the church. The geographical area extends from Lake Macquarie to Taree and as far inland as Merriwa and Murrurundi covering territory of approximately , Catholics in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle represents the Catholic Church in this region and provides pastoral, health care, social welfare and educational services for the community in the areas we serve. There are many activities, which form the mission of the church, in our region, some of these include:. CatholicCare Hunter-Manning which delivers a wide range of social services including foster care, food programs, counselling, and support to refugees and asylum seekers. The Rosewood Centre supports people in our community to improve their mental health and wellbeing. The specialist team provide counselling, clinical assessments, and behaviour support in eight locations across our region. St Nicholas, who support families across early education, out of school hours care and offering vocational education and training needs.

The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is a suffragan Latin Church diocese of the Archdiocese of Sydney , established in initially as the Diocese of Maitland and changed to the current name in The bishop of the diocese is Michael Kennedy.
