In Observe mode, Application Control records execution, installation, and removal activities for managed endpoints. In Observe mode, a file is allowed to execute unless it is banned by a specific rule or has malicious reputation. When an endpoint is in Observe mode, no Application Control events are generated for the endpoint. Identifying the staging or test endpoints for deployment. If you have multiple types of endpoints in your setup, group similar types of endpoints to roll out Observe mode. This allows you to analyze product impact on each group of endpoints, discover policy groups, and validate the policies that apply to each group of endpoints. If a reputation source is available and configured, you can review the reputation of files and certificates in your enterprise. This helps you make informed decisions for the received requests. The settings configured for your enterprise determine the reputation values that are allowed and banned. Requests are created based on observations generated for the endpoints. These requests allow you to discover Application Control policy rules for the software installed on the endpoints.

How is this enabled? I've watched numerous youtube vids which prompted me to buy the game today. However as a start i want to simply observe in-game goings on and learn Though I can't see an option to enable an observer mode anywhere. Not implemented or am I missing something?

This command switches the game into an observer mode, where you can watch events without direct control. Use the command play to revert control. The observe command in Stellaris is used to switch the player's view from a participant to an observer. When this command is activated, the player loses control over their empire and instead is allowed to simply watch the game unfold without any direct influence on the events happening. The player becomes a passive observer of the entire galaxy. This could be helpful for players who simply want to enjoy the unfolding events, or study the AI's behavior under different circumstances. However, you can inspect any empire's data such as their technology, diplomacy, economy, and fleets, among others. This provides you a larger picture of how your game world is evolving, making it a great tool for learning and refining strategies.

The Observer pattern is a behavioral pattern that is a subscription-publishing mechanism. Objects are able to make announcements, and anyone who has registered observer status with the object will be able to receive notifications when such announcement events occur. Registering an identity means subscribing, and the event occurs means publishing. There can be many observers doing subscriptions, at which point an observer chain is held in the observed object. So most of the implementations of the observer pattern you can see are case-based and do not support cross-threading, asynchronous, or non-blocking. Due to the blocking one-way traversal nature of the observer chain, an unruly observer may hang up the notification chain of events that occur and furthermore hang up the whole thread. However, solving this problem is not easy - for the most part we rely on the convention that observers must do their job in a disciplined manner and must finish their observations quickly. If you want to solve this problem completely, you will need a timeout interrupt mechanism, but this tends to make the entire code implementation of the observer pattern vague and complex, and in fact makes the technique infeasible. This can be useful if you make your observer pattern implementations support asynchronous methods, but the problem with this is that the response latency of events is unpredictable and left to the CPU thread scheduling feature. There are two ways to trigger non-blocking: either start a thread when the event occurs in order to traverse the observer chain and call back in turn, or facilitate the observer chain and call back in a new thread.
