Jeff Weinsier , Investigative Reporter. Below is a list of places that were inspected by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation last week in South Florida that had rodent, roach and or fly issues. Some places were ordered shut, while others were warned and require a follow-up inspection. The department has discretion on which establishments are ordered shut and which are not, and it should NOT be that way. Many of the places have very similar violations, if not the same, but the penalties are different due to a lack of standardization in the process. All the places that were ordered shut were allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and re-inspection. Observed approximately 30 live flying in dry storage areas adjacent to kitchen.

March 18, by Ryan Yousefi 2 Comments. A popular Coral Springs restaurant was ordered closed by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation last week after inspectors discovered an assortment of serious food and safety violations. Ocean One Grille, located at North University Drive, has been ordered to shut down by health inspectors following a complaint inspection on March 8 that discovered 14 violations, many repeated, including the presence of live flying insects in various areas of the kitchen, food storage areas, and bar area. The report shows inspectors observed two live flying insects landing on clean pots in the dishwashing area and approximately 30 live flying insects in dry storage areas adjacent to the kitchen. Inspectors noted the areas were not separated by a door or any other barriers, and five live flying insects were observed landing on the wall in the kitchen, this was a repeat violation. Various food items were stored on the walk-in freezer floor and several food items were stored on the dry storage floor, which was another repeat violation. Cooked chicken wings were observed by inspectors being held cold at 46 degrees Fahrenheit on a makeshift table, and were only placed in the unit 45 minutes prior to inspection. The report also noted no soap was provided at the hand wash sink in the bar, which was a repeat violation. Proof of required state-approved employee training was also not available for some employees. After observing the noted serious violations, a stop sale was issued by the inspector.
