Omori is controlled by the player at night, while exploring Headspace. He's been living in White Space for as long as he can remember, but it seems like he can't remember much else. The door to Headspace appears after this happens, suggesting that its creation was a direct consequence of Omori's 'birth. Inside Headspace, Omori can freely visit a dream world where his friends reside along with what appear to be representations of his acquaintances and fictional mascots. The entirety of Headspace seems to exist solely for the purpose of escapism, a distraction from the reality and consequences of Mari's death: Mari is still alive and well, and his friends still hang out together, exactly the same as they were four years ago, before Mari's death.
