Engine light has been on for a week took the car to auto zone to have it put on the mechine they have and the code came up P And P I looked that up online and It said if that is the problem the the car would be running rough or stalling and its not it is running perfect from what I can tell. A P code is generic and applies to all makes of vehicles. That consists of an oil control valve OCV , also called a solenoid valve and other components. This source says it best: The camshaft position CMP actuator is controlled by the powertrain control module PCM through a high control circuit and a low reference circuit. The high control circuit carries a 12 volt pulse width modulated PWM signal from the PCM to the CMP actuator solenoid in order to control the amount of engine oil flow to the cam phaser.

Drove car to work, ran fine, shut off and wouldn't start back up after end of shift. Cranks fine but won't even try to start. What I've done so far: Checked fuel pressure at rail and it was 55lbs. Checked injector pulse with Noid light and they pulse fine. I tried using starting fluid and it didn't help at all. I then did a compression test and all cylinders tested over lbs. I checked fire at every plug, and they all fired, however plugs were badly worn so I replaced them. It made no difference. I had pulled a code for camshaft sensor, so I replaced both the front and back. I am now getting ba P and P code but no others. Still cranks fine but will not even try to start. Do you. Hi, It's odd that both sensors are having an issue. What caught my ear was the idea that it has spark and there was no change when using starting fluid.

Verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the low reference circuit terminal B and the control circuit terminal A. Should I start with a multimeter and check for high resistance on the top solenoids or will I need to be looking for the other 2, which I belive one is on drivers side and one the back but I am finding conflicting diagrams. Please help as this is my only form of transportation currently and going without a car in Phoenix is brutal! Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. What they are calling banks are actually the camshafts. Those codes point to the exhaust camshaft.

The low reference circuit is used as a return circuit. The PCM has the ability to monitor the functionality of the high control and the low reference circuit. The "B" camshaft refers to the exhaust, right, or rear camshaft looking at the engine from the drivers seat.

If the circuit tests normal, replace the control module. I am now getting ba P and P code but no others. The test lamp should not illuminate. This source says it best: The camshaft position CMP actuator is controlled by the powertrain control module PCM through a high control circuit and a low reference circuit. The engine oil level should be within the operating range. It made no difference. Thanks for the help. Connect a fused jumper wire to the CMP actuator high control circuit at the solenoid. JavaScript is disabled. Connect a jumper wire between the CMP actuator low reference circuit at the solenoid and a good ground. Observe the engine oil level.

Upload Photo Photo optional. The spool valve should move from fully closed to fully opened position. The control module increases the pulse width to accomplish the desired camshaft operation. Come join the discussion on performance modifications, accessories, troubleshooting, maintenance and more! Connect a jumper wire between the CMP actuator low reference circuit at the solenoid and a good ground. The high control circuit carries a 12 volt pulse width modulated PWM signal from the PCM to the CMP actuator solenoid in order to control the amount of engine oil flow to the cam phaser. Increase the engine speed to 1, RPM. The control module sends a pulse width modulated volt signal to a CMP actuator solenoid. The engine oil level should be within the operating range.
