Thread Tools. I'm a new user of this forum and also new honda owner. I just boght a Honda Accord LX 2. The check engine light is on, and the scan shows Failure codes P and , which according to my research they are related to the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. At fisrt, i thoght the issue was because a bad TPS signal, so i replaced it calibrated as per recommendations, but the problem was not resolved. I then found something online regarding APPS, and although mii APPS is different to most of the ones i've seen for Accord, i replaced it to perform tests, but didn't fis the problem either.

I can't just keep guessing how to fix this thing. Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions. Look for a broken wire. Loose wire in a connector. Clean connections. Sometimes just unclipping the conections and reconnecting works. Replace sensors. Hope it's not the PCM.

This is one of the most frequent OBD2 trouble codes. Read the full article below to know what it means, how to fix it, and what other codes may show related to it. The pedal position sensor is a pressure-sensitive device located on the gas pedal. The following are some of the most common mistakes that a technician may make when diagnosing a P code:. A P code is a low to moderate priority code. It will not cause the engine to stall, but it can cause a variety of other problems such as reduced engine performance, surging, and rough idle.

We recommend Torque Pro. Failure to do this will result in a misdiagnosis, wasted time, and the unnecessary replacement of parts and components. Drive-by-wire throttle control systems typically use at least two position sensors to control the throttle opening. One sensor is attached to the accelerator pedal, and as the pedal is depressed or released, the internal resistance of the sensor changes. The variable voltage is used by the PCM as the basis on which to calculate and command an appropriate throttle opening by actuating a DC motor that is attached to the throttle plate.

All was well until today when exactly the same fault occurred exiting a busy roundabout - car did not respond to accelerator and limped at about 5mph. When your not thinking to turn it off, I just kept spinning tires until suddenly VSA tripped, Emission trip, and power steering trip, and of course check engine light is on. Removing the plugs from the ECU. The light stayed on immediately after the work but suddenly disappeared on a local journey of a few miles. No thanks, thats extortionate. I see you found an older post with the same problem also. I have same issue. The TPS wouldn't of been damaged because of this. I've tried to open them up, but there appears to be an issue and they're now 'forbidden'.. Recommended Communities. Used a glue gun to reseal and seems to be fine. Currently still investigating the possibility of just getting the sensor. So just had my local garage reset the codes and all seems to be well. Still getting the same codes!
The symptoms of this issue may include a lack of response from the accelerator pedal or a decrease in engine power. The repair difficulty is moderate, and the fix involves visually inspecting the wiring harness and connectors, checking for damaged components, and looking for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector pins. The repair time for this issue is estimated to be around 1.
Search Advanced search…. Although they could not garanti that this woudl fix my problem Used egr cleaner as I lost my contact cleaner and all put back together ok. Did another reset, suddenly everything started working and then hauled as to the house. Have a look and see if you want to try it. Log in. Many thanks. I have a theory that dirty throttle and egr could be adding to the issue and causing false data for the ECU? Read the handbook and turned ignition on and off 3 times, 30 seconds between each time and engine warning light went off after driving 50 yards. My Honda has gone into limp mode once since I did this, some miles between faults. It started sliding coming down a hill and the traction control was going crazy.
Excuse, that I interrupt you, there is an offer to go on other way.
