The chapter begins with PaRappa driving away with his dad's car, who chases after him, shouting that he had only had his license ten minutes. He walks out, much to the shock of the three. They all get in the car and start driving at the mountains, and PaRappa ends up driving the car off of a cliff. However, the car continues undamaged, but PaRappa starts daydreaming about going on a romantic date with Sunny , making him lose focus on the road. Just as he was about to give her a great big kiss, he has a head-on collision with a freight truck. This sends the car sailing into space, allowing Katy to snap some photos in mid-orbit before slamming right back down onto the road. This completely destroys the car, making PaRappa wonder how he's going to repay his dad. He then plucks up his courage, and hastily starts looking for a job. PaRappa eventually decides to sell at the flea market, where Prince Fleaswallow is seen sitting at the back of his canopy, stating that the most important thing about selling goods at his flea market is love, and not money. He tells PaRappa to follow his rap, and thus, the stage itself begins. Papa Parappa PaRappa!! Hey, PaRappa!!

The gameplay follows that of its predecessors, in which the player must press buttons to make PaRappa rap in response to a teacher's lyrics. Players earn points and progress by rapping in time to the music and maintaining a Good rating through to the end of each level. By successfully improvising raps, the player can obtain a Cool rating, during which PaRappa will be given the chance to rap freestyle by himself, although it can be lost if the player performs badly, which will drop the rating down to Good. However, they will drop down a rating to Bad and Awful if they are currently on Good, with the player losing if they drop below Awful or end the song with a Bad or Awful rating. PaRappa 2 features some tweaks to the gameplay, as some of the teacher's lyrics may change based on the player's performance. For example, the lyrics may become simpler if the player is struggling, or become tougher if they perform well.
It was re-released worldwide on the Playstation 4 on December 14, , introducing its p support and 4K support in the Playstation 4 Pro. It's the sequel to PaRappa the Rapper , although it is actually the third game in the series, following Um Jammer Lammy. After the relative commercial failure, and moderate critical reception, of Um Jammer Lammy, the not-quite sequel, the idea of creating another Parappa the Rapper seemed questionable. Yes, it's a fun game, and Parappa and his gang are certainly cool, but the novelty has slipped. The game concept hasn't changed, leaning neither toward an evolutionary or even a moderate change in the way gamers play music games. Now we have Parappa the Rapper 2, a clear and simple sequel, with few frills, and by no means a step forward for the music genre. So, is it worth the cash? If you like music games, be they short, silly, or kiddy, and you love Parappa, then yes, you should. But if you want anything more than a mere five-plus hour experience that betters Um Jammer Lammy and takes the genre inches forward from the first game, then you shouldn't. Gameplay and Everything Else See, Parappa the Rapper, or any music game for that matter, is about music. Others disagree. With this sequel, Masaya Matsuuru and his small team created a funny story, added in some extra characters to meet up with their old gang, and created all new songs to rap to.
