Pentium 4 [3] [4] is a series of single-core CPUs for desktops , laptops and entry-level servers manufactured by Intel. The processors were shipped from November 20, until August 8, The first Pentium 4-branded processor to implement bit was the Prescott 90 nm February , but this feature was not enabled. Intel's official launch of Intel 64 under the name EM64T at that time in mainstream desktop processors was the N0 stepping Prescott-2M. Intel also marketed a version of their low-end Celeron processors based on the NetBurst microarchitecture often referred to as Celeron 4 , and a high-end derivative, Xeon , intended for multi-socket servers and workstations. On December 7, , Intel discontinued orders for the Pentium 4 processor. The last shipments were made on August 8, , along with the Pentium D. In benchmark evaluations, the advantages of the NetBurst microarchitecture were unclear. With carefully optimized application code, the first Pentium 4s outperformed Intel's fastest Pentium III clocked at 1. But in legacy applications with many branching or x87 floating-point instructions, the Pentium 4 would merely match or run slower than its predecessor. Its main downfall was a shared unidirectional bus. The NetBurst microarchitecture consumed more power and emitted more heat than any previous Intel or AMD microarchitectures. As a result, the Pentium 4's introduction was met with mixed reviews: Developers disliked the Pentium 4, as it posed a new set of code optimization rules. For example, in mathematical applications, AMD's lower-clocked Athlon the fastest-clocked model was clocked at 1.
An instruction set refers to the basic set of commands and instructions that a microprocessor understands and can carry out. See www. Refer to Datasheet for formal definitions of product properties and pentium 4.

There is no denying it; the last twelve months have been anything but enjoyable for Intel, the mighty chipmaker based in Santa Clara, California. While the chip giant is still making billions and has thus certainly no serious reasons to complain about small profits or even losses, its reputation had to suffer rather badly. What had started with a buggy and therefore delayed 'Camino' i chipset for the brand new ' Coppermine ' processor in Fall , continued with the ' MTH-recall ', the Timna-drop, the bad press about Intel's peculiar relationship to Rambus Inc. At the same time Intel's archenemy AMD had become stronger and more successful than ever. In terms of processor performance the Sunnyvale-based chipmaker and its Athlon-processor did not only manage to catch up with the once so untouchable Intel, it slowly overtook and forced Intel in the sad role of a pursuer that just isn't able to keep up with its opponent. Lately, AMD managed to get so far ahead of Intel in terms of processor performance, that even the most fanatic Intel-followers ran out of reasonable arguments against AMD's products. Finally, Intel is more determined than ever to take back what once was thought to be in its possession until eternity. The brand new Pentium 4 processor shall make Intel the provider of the fastest, most advanced and thus simply best microprocessor in the world.

The Littorio class , also known as the Vittorio Veneto class , [Note 1] was a class of battleship of the Regia Marina , the Italian navy. The class was composed of four ships— Littorio , Vittorio Veneto , Roma , and Impero —but only the first three ships of the class were completed. Built between and , they were the most modern battleships used by Italy during World War II.
