Petite stitchery

I already have been spring sewing since after Christmas, petite stitchery, and Periwinkle was on my list to make soon. What better way to welcome the blossoms on the tree and the warm sun with this lovely dress. Petite stitchery purple dress was made for the final version in testing the Periwinkle. My oldest daughter loves this dress so much, she cried this afternoon while I handed it down to her sister.

Whew… I cannot believe that it is already November!!! The end of the year is here and while this year has been pretty incredible, sis is ready for a break from it all. But before we do that, I think we should celebrate this month by declaring it new sewing pattern November. And yes, this post is going live a week into November because my husband and I were caught up in some mysterious sickness last week so I did absolutely nothing. There are a couple of new things that I need for myself—pants, tops, everything. I also have some things that I need to make for my husband too. Now, using new patterns for him is going to be a challenge because I have a couple of tried and true patterns that are our go-to for sweaters and things.

I was able to test out one of the newest patterns for Petite Stitchery that released this week in their unwind collection. I tested out both the girls and babies for the cutest matchy sleep sets for my girls! The Thistle includes SO many options to create the ultimate sleep capsule that are perfect for warm summer nights! You can choose from a shorts romper, shorts and tank set or nightgown. There is an optional placket on all options and ruffle as well. The tank comes in regular or crop length and nightgown in dress or maxi length.

Mixing patterns and bold colors is my style aphrodisiac. Jessica is a stunning brunette and I love her ability to mix trends with some gorgeous classic pieces. She also covers a lot of health and fitness on her blog with her regular Workout Wednesday posts. She makes wearing bell-bottomed jeans look easy and wears the 70s trend beautifully. My 9 to 5 job involves wearing a uniform which leaves very little room for sartorial expression! Monika has been a wonderful bloggy friend of mine for so long — she is super loyal and wonderfully enthusiastic.

St Petersburg stitch is something that I learnt before and then promptly forgot, much to my chargrin. So this time, I have drawn up a simple pictorial. This helps to understand and remember the construction of the St Petersburg stitch. Once you get the basic construction of St Petersburg stitch, then the variations you can ply on them will be pretty endless. Here are some samples. Because the stitch has tendency to curve towards bottom-turning beads , one can effectively use larger beads for the top-turning beads as per photo 2. As you can see, the St Petersburg Stitch has a natural tendency to curve downwards towards the bottom-turning beads. You can use this tendency to good advantage in various projects. Here is another of the Single St Petersburg.

She is obsessed with overalls so this pair in French Terry will get weekly use for sure. These wings turned out incredible and just made his costume! My son was the most challenging costume creatively as he selected Yoshi! Then for the skirt I made a two tiered maxi using the simple dress cut chart and then added on to that with the ruffle from the two tiered skirt. My son was excited about his choice of dragon and even convinced me to sew up a matching dragon costume for our pup!

I only modified this pattern to add decorative glitter elastic to the back neckline and tulle flutters to the shoulder seam. For the next pair of pants I wanted a pair that she could use for everyday wear instead of just pajama or lounge wear. I used all Raspberry Creek Fabrics for our themed family costumes this year! This top is the ultimate in comfy and casual without feeling like pajamas. They made the cutest combo and I love what a good sport with our silly shenanigans our little Yorkie is!
