Check it out now. An HDRI Sky High Dynamic Range Image in the context of Architectural Visualization is Spherical Sky photograph that was taken to cover the entire field of vision and contains significantly more lighting information in it that is ideal for emitting light inside a computer-generated scene. They store 8 bits of data for each of the red, green and blue channels for every pixel. The problem with LDR images is that they are limited to a relatively small range of brightness, from 0 to , which is not actually all that much. If you want to light a 3D scene using an image, what you really need is a format that can store more than just 8 bits of data per channel so that you can have a much larger range of brightness. HDRIs are often used as the only light source in order to create a very realistically lit scene or to match the lighting from video footage using an HDRI shot on the same set as the video was taken. But of course, they are also used to complement standard lighting techniques and to add detail to reflections. Unfortunately, there is no standardized way for measuring the dynamic range of an HDRI. The main thing to look out for is whether an HDRI is unclipped or not. Being unclipped means the full range of brightness in the scene was captured, including the super crazy bright sunshine. HDRI is a much higher dynamic range of color and values than traditional bitmap formats. Instead of encoding colors like a computer monitor, using bits of color for each pixel, HDRI is modeled after trichromatic base of the human eye and store actual luminance values in each pixel. So not only is color contained but the strength and brightness of the light at that point in the map. The range of color and light that can be contained in this format is much greater than the RGB scale of traditional computer graphics.
Another small, yet important checkbox that could speed up your renders sits at the end of HDR environment settings. Pg skies free download you upload a tutorial of a detailed vray HDRI settings. Claim or contact us about this channel.

Not a new technique, you can find good tutorials by Bertand Benoit and Philippe Steels here and here , but it remains the best way to create displacement maps for repetitive things like roof tiles, metal panels and in this case expanded metal mesh. The great thing about doing a material like this with displacement rather than a straight opacity map is that it looks different depending on the viewing angle, which adds to the realism. Its important to save as 16 bit if you want a nice clean and smooth displacement, 8 bit often doesnt have enough grey levels so you get a stepped gradient which looks ugly when displaced.
