The industry is in a bad spot. Brands are losing sales. Race teams are shutting down. Ad dollars are drying up. How long before large corporate entities see the writing on the wall and shut own or simply sell out sites like Pinkbike where they have descent traffic but no way to actually make money outside of industry ad sales? Seems like pinkbike is a echo chamber of angry core riders who hate the sport more than they actually enjoy it. I'm sure that drives away ad dollars. It's not a positive place to hang out. I'm guessing early in Pinkbike will either sell out with pure spam content or close down entirely. I doubt it will disappear just because the industry is slowing. Love it or hate it Pinkbike is one of, if not the largest cycling websites globally and advertisers will spend their money to put their brand in front of the most sets of eyes. Majority of the other cycling "news" sites all rely on ad revenue to pay the bills.
