Hello, I own My Cloud ex2 ultra, updated to the latest version. In the Public folder we have movies and series. Everything looked fine, even the access. However, the problem arose when I want to play media in PLEX outside the home network, so via remote access. Set up a different port, tried turning UPnP off and on in the router but no luck. Can anyone try to give me some advice?
Plex loses remote access
By spikes July 14, in General Support. Edit: I solved it by turning on UPnP I am running the plex docker and watched several videos how to set it up to make sure im not missing anything. I forwarded port TCP in my ubiquity router. I have tried deleting the server and re-adding it back, i have installed different dockers, i have tried turning off Internet threat management, anything i missed? I at one time had the same issue. Found multiple instances on other forums that stated it was a bug. Even when it was red, it still worked. Did you confirm that even when it said it was disabled that it worked from outside your network? It played for a solid 10 min without issue.

I am on a wg router running a rebranded version of openwrt I dont believe the issue is with the router or openwrt build but my understanding of whats happeneing. I have tried the following to get plex accessable from outside my unit: port forward of any traffic using port to my severs ip address traffic rule again using port tried opening many other ports related to plex added in upnp and enabled the 3 checkboxes though not sure that is the correct method Start UPnP and NAT-PMP service Enable UPnP functionality Enable NAT-PMP functionality. No matter what I do plex will say it connects fine and turn green for anywhere from 10 seconds to a few minutes then go red loses external access. I am not familiar with linux or with controlling openwrt from a command line. I am not even sure if there is a log somewhere I should be checking. Lastly not sure if this is relevent but my internet connection is from a verizon phone plan, could verizon somehow be blocking that kind of traffc since its a phone plan?
Plex Media Server's remote access function is usually so smooth to set up that it's practically magic. But if you're having trouble accessing your movies from afar, we're here to help. If you primarily use Plex Media Server for watching content on your local network like streaming your favorite shows to your HDTV or smartphone , you may not have given much though to the benefits of remote access. One of the greatest things about the Plex Media Server platform, however, is the ease with which you can access your media from anywhere. With remote access enabled and properly configured, you can watch your favorite TV shows anywhere you have internet access: on your phone while you're sitting in a waiting room, on your laptop while you're vacationing, or even on a smart TV at a friend's house. Most of the time you should have very little trouble setting up remote access to your Plex Media Server, but there are a few instances where your home network configuration can throw you a curve ball. Let's look at how to enable remote access and then how to trouble shoot remote access issues. If you need help with the initial setup and configuration of Plex Media Server, please refer to our getting started with Plex guide here. During the initial setup of the Plex Media Server, the setup wizard prompts you to enable or disable remote access.
Plex loses remote access
It repeatedly and randomly loses remote access. Sometimes I can disable then re-enable and remote access will work. Sometimes I have to close out PMS altogether and restart for it to work. Either way, it might last an hour, it might last a few days. More often I have to turn remote access back on several times a day. I have a Linksys dual band router. I have followed the guide and done all the steps as required. After the latest update of Version 1. Remote Access is now constantly turning on and off like few minutes now … I have looked over all steps in the thread:.

I have had Plex installed and working on an Ubuntu PC for at least 4 years without any problems.
As the topic states I am having issues getting my plex server to be able to have remote access. But much better. Latest posts by Finn Wheatley see all. Even when it was red, it still worked. Finn Wheatley. However, in the PLEX server settings it says remote access is enabled and working. I do have to say, that all of my Plex servers are registering normal by using a manually published port no upnp. Really strange that its been working fine for ages and now randomly says no connection and then with no intervention it regains the connection and then loses it again. Really strange. Ah, that could cause issues. Maybe you can. Hello, I own My Cloud ex2 ultra, updated to the latest version. Recommended Posts. You may not reject these. Finally progress.
