A loose remake of the French action-thriller of the same point blank 2019, Point Blank hits the ground running somewhat literally and attempts to tap into Mackie and Grillo's screen chemistry to deliver a worthwhile buddy film that takes a whole lot of twists and turns in a fairly small amount of time right under 90 minutes, point blank 2019, in fact.

He is chased on foot and attempts to escape with his brother Mateo, but Abe is hit by a car, and is subsequently sent to a local hospital. They need two actors that can get gritty but carry an emotional load that gets you through the story without becoming stale. He's a definable, reliable screen brand who turns heads and crushes skulls wherever he walks. I'd say the same goes for his Point Blank co-star Anthony Mackie, the Marvel veteran and a multi-faceted talent in his own right whose warmth is matched by his authentic volatility. On paper, having both paired together, on the run and out of time, in a buddy actioner that harkens to those of yesteryear sounds as though it couldn't be any more ideal.

Two great character actors, a fun premise, a director who knows how to execute tight action sequences--sign me up. And then it stops moving. And it all takes place on one crazy night. As Abe Frank Grillo runs with a flash drive in his hand, his brother Mateo Christian Cooke speeds to the scene to pick him up. The two make eye contact just before Abe is hit by another car, and the authorities descend on the scene. Mateo is forced to drive away and Abe is taken to the hospital, first presumed to just be a victim of a crazy car accident.
