Prashanth Thiagarajan , known professionally as Prashanth , is an Indian actor and businessman, known for his works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil films, he has also appeared in few Telugu , Hindi and Malayalam films. At the peak of his career in the late s, Prashanth was one of the popular actors in South India. The son of actor-director Thiagarajan , Prashanth began his career at 17 by appearing in Vaigasi Poranthachu and went on to feature in other films including Balu Mahendra 's Vanna Vanna Pookkal , R. Selvamani 's Chembaruthi , K. Prashanth rose to stardom with Shankar 's romantic comedy Jeans in which he played a dual role alongside Aishwarya Rai.

To set things right after a miserable flop of their earlier venture Jai, the father-son duo of Thiagarajan and Prashant team is once again in search of success for their next movie, Shock. The movie apparently is a remake of Bollywood blockbuster Bhoot, produced and directed by Ramgopal Verma. Apart from producing Shock, Thiagarajan is also directing the same. His last directorial venture was Aan Azhagan in which Prashanth played the main role. Thiagarajan apart from wielding the megaphone is playing an important role in the film.
