Princess Yasmin Aga Khan born December 28, is a Swiss-born American philanthropist known for raising public awareness of Alzheimer's disease. She is the second child of American movie actress and dancer Rita Hayworth , and the third child of Prince Aly Khan , Pakistan 's representative to the United Nations from February until his death in Khan was born at Clinique de Montchoisi in Lausanne , Switzerland ; [1] she spent her early life with her mother and her maternal half-sister, Rebecca Welles Manning — , daughter of Hayworth's marriage to Orson Welles. Yasmin, then only three years old, played about the court while the case was being heard, finally climbing on to the judge's lap. In , she graduated from Bennington College [7] [5] in the United States and was originally interested in opera singing. Influenced by the death of her mother, for whom she cared for many years, from Alzheimer's disease , Yasmin Aga Khan serves on the board of directors, as vice chairman, of Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Association. On Friday, she was in Toronto to participate in a film screening and panel discussion at the Aga Khan Museum on the benefits of the arts for individuals living with dementia. She started with symptoms in her early 50s. There was a lot of confusion, disorientation, mood changes, and she became quite aggressive. The police would come and there was nobody there. She had also been drinking — not heavily, but the alcohol exacerbated the plaques and tangles in the brain that were being created with the disease. I thought she had this serious drinking problem, but there was this element of brain disease. She was forgetful, accusatory. She had a brain scan and she had memory testing by a neurologist.

She chose, instead, to use her name and position to help fight this most misunderstood and fatal disease. Yasmin Aga Khan is a moving, viable force in the fight against Alzheimer's Disease and related disorders. Her yearly celebrity gala is the most successful fund raising event for the disease research. Her untiring devotion to the cause keeps Alzheimer's Disease research moving forward.
