Neo-progressive rock commonly abbreviated neo-prog [2] is a subgenre of progressive rock which developed in the UK in the early s. The genre's most popular band, Marillion , achieved mainstream success in the decade. Several bands from the genre have continued to record and tour. Neo-prog is characterised by deeply emotional content, often delivered via dramatic lyrics and a generous use of imagery and theatricality on-stage. The music is mostly the product of careful composition , relying less heavily on improvised jamming.

COMITY is a French experimental hard-core band that was formed in and that went through several line-up and musical changes through the years. But which bands were you influenced by and why did you choose that name? Our influences pretty evolved throughout the years. Then with the emergence of bands like starkweather, morning again, converge and all these kinds of bands, we started to follow their path mixing it all. We listen to a big amount of different things from minimal electro, grime, classical music, jazz to math-rock, noise-core, sludge, black-metal. It is that simple, the name is a joke. How is the music scene in your area and where does your band fit into the scene? There are a lot of great bands we toured with, but not in a particular style. Affinities come more from a way of thinking, of making music than getting into similar styles. In usual Elder fashion, the album is five songs long, all between nine prog archives 14 minutes long. Sure, Dark Side of the Moon is their monumental best-selling iconic classic, but for me, this is their overall best album, prog archives, primarily due to the presence of the wonderful epic Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Wish You Were Here. The most obvious influence on Ruins' ringleader Yoshida Tatsuya is Magma's iconoclastic Christian Vander — like Vander, Yoshida even created his own language for the band — but there are also traces of experimental freaker Frank Zappa and avant-jazz terrorizer John Zorn who released the album on his Tzadik label.

Side-long concept pieces, walls of Mellotrons, keyboardists in capes…such were the glories of progressive rock. And behind it all were a stack of wildly creative prog-rock albums that still hold a potent thrill of discovery. I don't want the whole thread to be power ballads, that's too easy and I wanna see more clever thinking. The subgenre relies very much on clean, melodic and emotional electric guitar solos , combined with keyboards. For those of us unfamiliar with your music; how would you describe you music and which bands would you compare yourself with? All the other tracks are kept between three and six minutes.
