Pxg 0311 irons gen 4
Unparalleled looks and feel. Since its inception, PXG has kept golfers on their toes with each new release. The satin finish looks clean and does a great job killing glare. A barely perceptible increase in blade length and offset are the only differences.
Each iron is five-times forged from soft carbon steel, creating a tight grain structure that increases its strength, prolonging the life of the grooves and enhancing the overall feel and appearance. Years in the making, our incredible new GEN4 Irons are available in three models to suit every skill level—Tour, Players, and Xtreme Performance—precision engineered with our most advanced technology, materials and fitting options so you can play your best golf ever. XCOR is the result of a multi-year research and development project. Created specifically for use in our irons, the proprietary polymer material is bunny rabbit soft and off-the-charts explosive. Highly compressible, delivering more face movement and a colossal sweet spot. As the blade length increases from heel to toe, the MOI about the shaft axis also increases, meaning it will take more force to rotate the club face to square at impact.

By SteelyDan February 24, in Equipment. I am thinking about a set of Gen4 irons at current discounted prices. Gen5 is obviously out there and Gen6 apparently just around the corner. Too expensive for my taste. Can the Gen4 keep up with those? Radeon 2 posts. SteelyDan 2 posts. SEP 2 posts. Humble 1 post. February 25, You just need to decide what's best for you.
And that's certainly the case for the PXG Gen4 clubs, in particular the P irons we tested on the range and on the course. The thickness of the top rail has the optigraphic effect of balancing the proportions of a club head. Leave a Comment Cancel Your email address will not be published.
The speed in this iron comes from a HT maraging-steel face that is razor thin at just 1. Instead of the nine weights on the Gen3 including two on the toe area in back , the Gen4 features a pair of small weights on the back in the toe and heel area with one larger weight in the lower center of the milled back. That weight can be adjusted during the fitting process in two-gram increments to optimize performance. Felt like it was powerful without being heavy. Had control of the club throughout the entire swing. I was able to maintain good tempo. Rewarding distance.

Stunning looks. A logical continuation from the other irons in the line. The GEN4 irons have a unique and beautiful look. The milled back surface and stepped, angular muscle back lines are total eye catchers. If you bag these, get used to catching people staring at your set. As attractive as they are aesthetically, the look at address is even more impressive. Much like the P as compared to the T, the XP is subtly dialed up in terms of the size of the face, blade length, and offset. However, at address, the club looks very clean and attractive. Mishits are punished much less than they might be with other irons, and feedback through the hands is less noticeable than with the T and the P.

Thanks Matt. Golf Monthly. What I will confidently state is that a ball struck somewhere other than the sweet spot feels worlds better than it would with a traditional forged iron. Normally I would not consider changing as I love my miuras but the price drop on the ST and your review has got me seriously interested especially as I have not changed my irons for quite sometime. Great review : but given the claims and nature of a PXG release, surely these need to be reviewed by someone who hit the last generation to give some kind of experienced comparison between the two. OG Stealth Plus vs. That weight can be adjusted during the fitting process in two-gram increments to optimize performance. The extremely thin face coupled with the XCOR polymer interior makes for what amounts to a controlled explosion at impact. Been gaming them for about 5 years now. I have been fit for every generation, and other manufacturers irons, and the Gen4 P has been head and shoulders above the rest. Can the Gen4 keep up with those?

The weight can be adjusted in 2-gram increments during a fitting to allow golfers to experience various head weight configurations and achieve optimal personalized performance. XCOR consists of a new polymer material that's injected into the hollow part of the clubhead to give it a soft feel and enhance ball speed at impact. As an example PXG say two of their most senior engineers who swing at the same speed and typically have used the same specs before, found that one benefitted from going a little lighter while the other saw gains by going heavier. Many manufacturers still sell the sets as 4 thru PW or GW. Get plugged in…. Sign up to Golf Monthly Newsletter Newsletter. February 25, Ask us on Twitter.
