Though that ending does not solve the "Big Problem" I think, if there's any other solution at all , plus I don't know if the slugcat is meant to solve it anyway, since he's just a small animal in the grand scheme of things. I also don't know if there's any purpose to have shown its family, and being told to search for them, and then drop it along the way, but that may also have been intentional by the devs - Rain World is filled with sad stories.
